Perfect for ages 2–6 | A wonderful read for any part of the day
About This Book
My Daily Routine follows a little girl through her whole day, from the moment she wakes up and stretches her arms, all the way to bedtime and that final cosy yawn. With bright, cheerful illustrations and simple, rhythmic sentences, children recognise their own lives in every page. The routine feels familiar and reassuring, and the gentle repetition means little ones naturally pick up new words and sequences without even trying. That is the beauty of it.
Before You Read
Before you open the book, have a little chat about the day ahead or the day you have just had together. What did they do first this morning? What comes after breakfast? Children love noticing that their own routine matches the one in the story. Let them feel like the expert before you even begin. It sets a lovely, confident mood for the read.
While You Read
This book is made for joining in, so do not be afraid to be a little silly together. Stretch and yawn when the girl wakes up. Mime brushing teeth and say brush brush brush. March on the spot when she walks to school in the rain. The more you act it out, the more your child will remember it, and the more fun you will both have. Let the sound words lead the way: scrub scrub scrub, mix mix mix, hug hug hug. Children absolutely love these and will start saying them before you even turn the page.
After You Read
There is a lovely rhyme at the back of the book that covers the whole day from morning to night. Try reading it together slowly at first, then a little faster, and see if your child can join in with the repeated parts. The review questions are a gentle way to revisit what they have learned, and the match game is a lovely quiet activity to do together at the table.

Things to Talk About
Some of the best conversations happen after the book is put away. You might find yourselves talking about why it feels good to have a routine, or which part of the day is their absolute favourite. Do they prefer mornings or bedtime? Would they rather paint a picture or play music? Why does washing your hands and brushing your teeth matter? Little ones have wonderfully honest answers to questions like these. Just follow where the conversation leads.
